Twinshock Trailfinder

Rounded Rectangle: Twinshock Trailfinder!

Following the roaring success of our navigation map-reading events in the Spanish Pyrenees, Austin I are holding our first ever version for classic bikes - Twinshock Trailfinder !

What is it?

Twinshock Trailfinder !  is the only event for the thinking off-road rider, combining map-reading with spectacular long-distance trail riding. Put simply, it’s orienteering on dirt bikes. It is designed as a relaxed, boutique and highly social classic dirt-bike experience, not an enduro or a race. If you really want to win, then don’t bother entering, because it’s the taking part that counts! To keep it down-home and friendly only 70 bikes will be accepted.

Where is it?

In the Spanish Pyrenees. Over a 400 square mile area, centred on the town of Sort.

When is it?

Only once a year  - 14th and 15th Sep 2010. However, once the ‘Trailfinder’ event is finished, you may still ride the mountain trails freely, in your own time.

 How does it work?

  • Twinshock Trailfinder !  is a team event. Maximum team size is four people, minimum is two. Only teams with a comedy name will be accepted.
  • Two months before the event, each team will be issued with a map showing the exact locations of the 42 checkpoints over the 400 square mile area.
  • There are numbered metal dog-tag plaques affixed at each checkpoint.
  • All you have to do is ride as a team to as many of these checkpoints as possible in the two days and log the number on the plaque in your checkpoint booklet.
  • Each checkpoint has a different points value, depending on how far it is from the hotel. The most successful team will be the one that scores the most points.

How much does it cost?

If you pay before the end of April 2010 it costs 55 pounds. After that it is 100 pounds. This includes the map and checkpoint booklet but not accommodation or transport to Spain.

Twinshock Trailfinder !  is open to any bike with two shocks at the rear. Because the event is navigation-based not speed-based all sizes, ages and makes etc are lumped into one ‘class’.  This event is old school - modern bikes and GPS are strictly forbidden!
